A Boise Contractor Who Knows What's Under Boise

Boise is our home base, and after more than 30 years of digging here we know the ground the way most people know the streets. The city sits on an old river valley, and that history is written into every trench we open: cobbly, alluvial soil near the Boise River that eats trencher teeth, deep loess and clay lenses up on the Bench, and decomposed granite once you climb into the foothills. Each of those conditions changes how a job gets bid, what equipment shows up and how the backfill is compacted so your driveway or lawn doesn't settle a year later.

Shamrock Construction & Excavation LLC handles the full range of underground work in Boise — excavation and site prep, septic systems, sewer lines, water services and drainage — so you're not coordinating three subcontractors for one problem in your yard.

  • Excavation — site prep, grading, trenching, demolition
  • Septic — installation, repair, pumping and inspections
  • Sewer — line repair, replacement and new connections
  • Water — water line installation and repair
  • Drainage — French drains, grading and storm solutions

Different Parts of Boise, Different Underground Problems

In the North End and the East End, many homes date back generations, and so do their sewer laterals. Clay tile and Orangeburg-era pipe were the standard when those neighborhoods were built, and both are well past their expected life — roots find every joint, and Orangeburg simply flattens with age. When a line in one of these established neighborhoods backs up repeatedly, a camera inspection usually tells the story quickly.

Down along the Boise River corridor and through Garden City, the water table can sit surprisingly close to the surface. Deep digs there need dewatering planning and shoring, and drainage systems have to account for groundwater, not just roof runoff. Up on the Bench, decades of flood irrigation and a web of canals and laterals mean water moves through the ground in ways that surprise new homeowners every spring.

In the foothills, city sewer doesn't reach every property. Homes off Bogus Basin Road and in the outlying draws often run on septic systems, and the sloped, rocky ground out there makes system placement and drain field design a job for a crew that has done it many times before. Freeze-thaw cycles through Boise winters work on shallow lines and poorly compacted trenches everywhere in town, which is why we're particular about bedding, depth and compaction on every job.
