Star sits low along the Boise River, straddling the Ada and Canyon county line, and much of the town was flood-irrigated farmland before it became one of the fastest-growing communities in Idaho. That combination leaves a mark. Riverside lowlands can carry seasonally high groundwater, old field grades were shaped to hold and spread irrigation water rather than shed it, and ditches and laterals still thread through and around many neighborhoods. Drainage for Star’s New Construction
A large share of Star’s new homes sit on former farm ground, and drainage is one of the easiest things to get wrong when a field becomes a subdivision. Soils compacted by decades of equipment, buried ditch lines and grades built for irrigation can all funnel water toward the wrong spot, and the problem often does not show up until the first wet spring after move-in. We work with builders and homeowners to get grades, swales and subsurface drains right during site preparation, and we come back to fix lots where the water found its own path.
Because we are an excavation contractor first, we bring the right equipment for real earthwork, not just a shovel and a roll of pipe. Trenches get proper depth and fall, drain rock and fabric go in where they should, and backfill gets compacted so the repair does not become its own low spot.
